What is OpenMausBot?
OpenMausBot is an open-source take on Grok Bot: AI as a messaging app. Every chat in the sidebar is a real agent with its own personality, model, memory of its thread and connected apps. You talk to your bots like contacts, watch them work, and approve the actions that matter.
Bots run on the agent CLIs you already pay for - Claude Code and Codex - so there is no new AI account and no proxy in the middle. On a desktop the bots stop when you close the laptop. On an InstaPods server they keep running: routines fire on schedule, bot-to-bot work carries on, and you check in from any browser or phone.

Locked Down by Default
A server that runs shell commands for you must never be open to strangers. InstaPods keeps OpenMausBot's own security model intact and verifies it on every image build.
Pairing, not passwords
There is no login form to guess. Each device pairs with a single-use code that expires in minutes, and every API request without a paired session is refused.
Codes only from your own terminal
Pairing codes are minted from your pod's Web Terminal, which only you can open. Anyone who finds your URL sees a pairing screen and nothing else.
Localhost-only server
The OpenMausBot server listens on 127.0.0.1. All outside traffic goes through HTTPS and a reverse proxy, and the build fails if an unpaired request ever gets through.
Runs as an unprivileged user
The server and your bots run as a normal user inside an isolated Linux server, with a fresh identity per pod and nothing shared with other pods.
How It Works

Pick OpenMausBot from the app marketplace on the Build plan. It boots with the server, web app, Claude Code and Codex already installed.
Pair Your Browser
Open the pod's Web Terminal, run openmausbot-pair, and open the link it prints. You are signed in on that device.
Connect an Engine
Sign Codex in with ChatGPT from Settings, or run claude once in the terminal. Then create your first bot and start chatting.
